BANGALORE

Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA)

Location: CUPA Specialty Hospital, RT Nagar Contact: 9108855888

Rs 1500 per cat including vaccination, antibiotics and surgery.
All cats ears will be notched under this program to identify that it’s neutered.
CUPA also has a program called Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return - TNVR for people living in communities with 10 or more stray cats around to help feeders take care of large stray populations. Cost for TNVR is Rs 1500 a cat.

MUMBAI

All About Them - Swapna Gupta

This works as an animal recovery centre providing temporary shelter & care to strays till they are nurtured back to health. They also offer subsidised sterilisation.

1-2 days post-op for male, 2-3 days for female.
Ear notch compulsory for strays.
Uses intra-dermal stitches.
Operations are 2-3 times a week.
Admission on previous day to ensure fasting.

Uses gas anesthesia, so quite safe although it adds to the cost slightly.
Uses the aseptic method, so no external stitches and cats can be released within a day.
Post op is just 6-8 hours, till they are conscious, then they can be released.
Ear notching is compulsory for stray cats.
Does not insist on blood test.
Does not like operating on lactating cats, will charge extra if he decides to do it

Admission on the previous night or early morning on the day of operation.
